How you can become an official part of the New Life Family of Faith

Profession of Faith and baptism

The Bible teaches that a church is composed of folks who have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, and who have identified with Christ through baptism. If you have not accepted Christ as your Savior, there is no more important decision that saying yes to the urgings of your heart to accept Christ as your savior. If you are not sure how to do this, there is a special section on this website to guide you in doing so. Also, you can call our church at 337-463-6050 and someone will help you accept Christ. After you have accepted Christ, baptism follows. We practice baptism by immersion become the very word translated from Greek—the original langue of the New Testament—mean immersion. The New Life family will gladly welcome you as a member!

Baptism

If you have made a profession of faith at some point, but have never followed Christ in baptism, you simply need to share our salvation experience with the pastor and ask to be baptized. After that, the New Life family will gladly welcome you as a member!

Transfer of Membership

If you have accepted Christ and followed Him in baptism, and you are a member of another church with beliefs that are basically the same as New Life’s, you can become part of the New Life family by asking to have your membership transferred to New Life. Our office will take care of all the necessary work to have your membership transferred.

By Statement

There are situations in which a person has either lost touch with the church where he or she has accepted Christ and was baptized, but for whatever reason the membership cannot be transferred from that church.

Associate Membership

There are situations in which a person wants to be identified with New Life, but does not want to change denominations. In this case, the person who as accepted Christ and has been baptized—by immersion or some other way—can become an associate member which means the person enjoys all aspects of New Life except voting on various matters. This is sometimes desired by someone whose husband or wife, or children, become an official part of New Life, but the individual does not want to change officially their denominations heritage.

How do I make one of these decisions known?

There are several ways to make your decision known.

• Come forward during the invitation or hymn of response and make known your decision to accept Christ or become part of the New Life family, or recommit your life, to the pastor.
  
  
• You do not have to walk forward during the invitation, or hymn of commitment. You can tell the pastor about your desire to make a commitment at any time. After the invitation he will let the folks know about your decision. you will be asked either to come to the front at this point or, he will simply ask you along with some of your New Life friends to stand at the worship center door so everyone can greet and encourage you as they leave.

When you make a decision to follow Christ, all the folks present will be thrilled for you; they understand its significance. There is no reason to be nervous or embarrassed because just about everyone present has made similar decisions. You are among understanding, empathetic, encouraging folks.

If you feel led to accept Christ, recommit your life to Christ, or be part of the official New Life family, contact the pastor and he will be more than happy to work with you to make your step of faith as meaningful and smooth as possible.
